Old Treasures, New Tech: Modernizing Your Balancing Machine
Do you own an older but mechanically sound soft-bearing (sub-resonant) balancing machine whose measuring system is outdated, inaccurate, or defective? A new purchase is often associated with enormous costs. We offer a smart alternative: modernization with the Balanset-1A OEM measuring system.
Who is this solution ideal for?
This modernization is aimed at owners and operators of old soft-bearing balancing machines of any manufacturer whose mechanical base (stand, rollers, drive) is still intact but who do not have a modern, computer-based measurement data acquisition system.
Important Note Before Modernization
The crucial factor for a successful modernization is the condition of the mechanical components, especially the soft bearing supports. Before you begin, ensure that the rollers have no play and rotate freely. Worn or damaged supports make precise measurement impossible.
The Advantages of Modernization
- Enormous Cost Savings: Save up to 70% compared to buying a new machine.
- No Mechanical Modifications: The robust mechanics of your old stand are preserved.
- Easy Installation: The sensors are simply attached magnetically to the bearing points, and the tachometer is aligned with the rotor.
- Modern Functionality: You get all the benefits of modern computer-aided balancing: automatic calculations, report archiving, ISO 1940 tolerance checking, and more.
The Heart of Modernization: Rebalancing
One of the biggest advantages of a modernized system is the ability for rebalancing. What does this mean? During the first balancing of a specific rotor type, the Balanset-1A software calculates and stores its unique "influence coefficients". If you need to balance the same rotor again in the future (e.g., after maintenance), you can load this dataset. The system measures the current vibration and immediately calculates the necessary correction – without time-consuming trial runs with test weights.
This is ideal for series production or regular maintenance of standard components and drastically reduces balancing time.
The Modernization Process: Step by Step
- Assessment: Check the mechanical condition of your old machine. (Note: A soft-bearing machine is a balancing machine with soft supports, designed for balancing rigid rotors at frequencies above the system's resonant frequency.)
- Dismantling: Remove the outdated display units and sensors.
- Sensor Installation: Attach the vibration sensors perpendicular to the rotor axis and the laser tachometer with the reflective mark on the rotor.
- Connection: Connect the Balanset-1A OEM block to a laptop.
- Done: After installing the software, your "new" balancing stand is ready for operation.
